Alleged facility located approximately 15 miles south of Area 51 near Papoose Lake, Nevada. Brought to public attention by physicist Bob Lazar in 1989, who claimed to have worked there reverse-engineering extraterrestrial propulsion systems. Nine disc-shaped craft were allegedly housed in hangars built into the mountainside.
Bob Lazar came forward in 1989 through Las Vegas investigative journalist George Knapp, claiming he had been employed at a facility called S-4, located south of the main Area 51 complex at Groom Lake. Lazar described the facility as built into a hillside with hangar doors angled to match the mountain slope.
Lazar stated he worked on a propulsion system from one of nine recovered craft, describing the power source as an antimatter reactor fueled by Element 115 (moscovium), which was synthesized and confirmed to exist in 2003.
Lazar's employment records at Los Alamos have been partially corroborated. His claimed educational credentials at MIT and Caltech have not been independently verified, though he maintains the records were deliberately expunged. He has passed multiple polygraph examinations and his account has remained consistent for over 35 years.
