CREDIBLE WITNESS OPERATOR · CIA / NSA / ASD
Joint US-Australian signals intelligence facility located 18km southwest of Alice Springs. Operated jointly by the CIA, NSA, and Australian Signals Directorate. Tracks ballistic missiles, monitors communications, and supports drone operations. Multiple UAP incidents reported in surrounding airspace.
Pine Gap is one of the most significant intelligence collection stations in the world. The facility operates geosynchronous SIGINT satellites and provides targeting data for US military operations across Asia and the Middle East.
Several UAP incidents have been reported near the facility. In 1989, a large metallic disc was reported hovering above the base perimeter by multiple witnesses including base personnel. The Australian government has consistently declined to comment on UAP incidents at the facility.
The base is formally known as the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap and was established under a 1966 treaty between Australia and the United States. Its existence was kept secret from the Australian parliament for several years after its establishment.
