DEBUNKED

Alleged exchange program between the US government and aliens from the Zeta Reticuli system. Twelve military personnel reportedly travelled to the alien home world aboard a spacecraft in 1965 and returned in 1978. Details were leaked to UFO researchers in 2005 through an anonymous source claiming to be a retired DIA employee.

The Serpo story was introduced in November 2005 through a series of emails from an anonymous source calling himself "Request Anonymous," later identified only as a retired DIA employee. The emails, distributed through UFO researcher Bill Ryan, claimed that a human-alien exchange program had been conducted following the Roswell incident. According to the Serpo narrative, the surviving Roswell alien provided coordinates for his home planet in the Zeta Reticuli system. A team of 12 military personnel were selected and trained for a mission aboard an alien spacecraft, departing in 1965. The team spent 13 years on the planet Serpo before returning to Earth in 1978, with two members choosing to remain and two dying during the mission. Most researchers consider Serpo to be a sophisticated disinformation campaign or hoax. However, several notable figures in the UAP research community, including Dr. Kit Green and Dr. Hal Puthoff, stated they had seen corroborating information in classified documents, without being able to confirm the specific claims.
